Ranger Up & ASP Support The 2nd Amendment

CJ Ranger Up & ASP Support The 2nd Amendment

July 31st, 2009 by CJ

I love being a Soldier. I love being a Soldier because my entire purpose in life is to defend this country and protect the Constitution – all of it! It’s such a beautiful document and, when combined with the Declaration of Independence, are without a doubt the most important documents in the history of the world (after the scriptures, of course).

As an avid shooter (and a Texan), the Second Amendment holds a special place in my heart. Being the Army, it’s sometimes hard to fathom as I’m sitting on the range qualifying on various weapons that I’m getting PAID to shoot guns! It doesn’t get any better than that.

Unfortunately, the Second Amendment is under assault. For fear of pissing off the Air Force, I won’t go into detail about the origins of this assault, but let’s just agree that it’s under assault (or disagree, I don’t care). It’s with that in mind that Ranger Up and I want to know YOUR opinions on the Second Amendment. Should it stay? Should it be repealed? Is it strong enough? Is it too weak? Is it really under attack or just a figment of my imagination? What would this nation be like without it?

It’s along those lines that we want to hear from you. In 100 words or less (you won’t be penalized for writing more, but I may get bored quicker) tell us your opinions about the Second Amendment. Send your submissions to cj@soldiersperspective.us by 25 August with “2nd Amendment Essay Contest” in the subject line. Why 25 August? On August 25, 1789, the Second Amendment resolution was sent to the Senate from the House. For the next two years, the amendment would be debated and changed made to make it what it is today. Now, 220 years later, it is under attack. What a great way to raise awareness of this important part of American life!

In addition, Ranger Up has created a Second Amendment t-shirt. Together, we will choose the best three essays and each writer will win one of the shirts for FREE!! If you don’t have a Second Amendment t-shirt, you haven’t experienced the high quality shirts they produce. They’ve quickly taken over my wardrobe, as those who were at the Milblog Conference can attest.

So, get writing and send in those essays. Only 25 days to go!! If you don’t WANT to write an essay, but simply must get your hands on one of these t-shirts, click HERE and pre-purchase one today. Ranger Up was founded and is run by veterans!

A Little Gun History Lesson

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
——————————

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
—————————

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
——————————

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
—————————-

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
——————————

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
——————————

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million ‘educated’ people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
—————————–
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.
——————————

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.

Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

It will never happen here? I bet the Aussies said that too!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won’t see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it’s too late! The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind him of this history lesson.

With Guns…………We Are “Citizens”.
Without Them……..We Are “Subjects”.

During W.W.II the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

Note: Admiral Yamamoto who crafted the attack on Pearl Harbor had attended Harvard U 1919-1921 & was Naval Attache to the U. S. 1925-28.

Most of our Navy was destroyed at Pearl Harbor & our Army had been deprived of funding & was ill prepared to defend the country. It was reported that when asked why Japan did not follow up the Pearl Harbor attack with an invasion of the U. S. Mainland, his reply was that he had lived in the U. S. & knew that almost all households had guns.

Do you naively believe that the government will protect your rights?

Do you naively believe the police will arrive at your home in time to prevent crimes of violence or other criminal acts?

The government has thousands of gun laws on the books and most of the states individually have thousands more. At last count there were over 25,000 laws on gun control collectively throughout the United States. Which one of those thousands has stopped criminal activity? Can you point one out for me?

The left reminds us of our freedom of speech rights at every opportunity, yet believe that gun control is needed to stop crime and that the 2nd Amendment doesn’t apply in this day and age.
Freedom of speech is great for all of us living here in the U.S.
So is the right to own firearms, guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment.

But I have to ask, how long do you think your 1st Amendment rights will last if every law abiding citizen in this country has their 2nd Amendment rights revoked and are forced to turn in their guns or risk becoming criminals?

Does this ring any bells?
With Guns…………We Are “Citizens”.
Without Them……..We Are “Subjects”.

And as “Subjects” we are at the mercy of government or any despot seeking control over us.

Defend your rights before they are gone.

Dean
