Known originally as the militia, the National Guard turns 372 years young Dec. 13.
It all started in 1636 when the General Court of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, which functioned as the colony’s legislature, ordered existing militia companies from the towns surrounding Boston to form into three regiments: North, South and East.
While other English colonies like Virginia and Spanish colonies like Florida and Puerto Rico had individual towns with militia companies before 1636, Massachusetts was the first place in the New World where the population was large enough to justify organizing companies into regiments for command and control. These regiments became a kind of military “family” for members. Although their names have been changed and individual companies have come and gone, the three regiments still exist in the Massachusetts National Guard.
In retrospect, a string of 20-year career enlistments divides the Guard’s life span into more than 18 “generations.” The differences between generation one and the current 19th generation are countless. Yet, even as the National Guard has transformed many times, it remains true to the Founder’s intent of a citizens’ Army; and, for the last three generations, a citizens’ Air Force.

This early militia enforced local laws and battled Britain’s enemies in America. Now, a force of more than 450,000 men and women serve voluntarily and can be deployed anywhere in the world.

Generation seven rallied to battle the British at Lexington and Concord. Generation 12 faced off, brother against brother, in the Civil War. Generation 14 “Remembered the Maine” during the Spanish-American War. Generation 16 was already on duty when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Generation 19 will never forget and is still responding to 9/11.
In 1636, the militia’s primary firearm was the crude matchlock musket which could take 56 steps to load and fire. Nearly one-third of militia Soldiers carried only a long pole, or pike, into combat. Today, the Guard’s small-arms arsenal includes M-16 and M-4 rifles, and the Squad Automatic Weapon which fires of 750rounds per minute.
Our colonial forefathers could not have imagined much of what their descendants can use in combat today – jet fighters, tanks, satellite radios, laser-guided munitions, global positioning systems, rocket artillery, and countless other high-tech devices.
Now, after 372 years, what does the future hold for this always ready and reliable force?
Future National Guard generations will continue to employ all of the modern technology at its disposal at home and abroad. At the core, however, today’s National Guard members and yesterday’s Minutemen remain the same person: citizens with the conviction that their military service is required to make their nation and communities a safer and better place. The statement includes an enumerated list of fifteen points which present a target rich environment In this installment, I’ll take on the fifth point of agreement.[Links & emphasis added.]
Genuine love of neighbour implies respect of the person and her or his choices in matters of conscience and religion. It includes the right of individuals and communities to practice their religion in private and public.
Taken at face value, the fifth point means that the Muslims participating in the meeting accept the concept of freedom of religion. By so doing, they would sever themselves from Allah and become apostates.
Allah said, “whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers.”.[3:85] Allah said, “Truly, the religion with Allah is Islam”. On his deathbed, Moe said “Expel the pagans from the Arabian Peninsula”. [Bukhari 4.52.288] Caliph Umar subsequently expeled the Jews. [Bukhari 3.39.531]
The right to believe and practice as you choose is obviated by Allah’s commands to fight disbelievers. Once Jews & Christians are conquered, subjugated & extorted, Islamic law specifies certain regulations. I quote from Reliance of the Traveller, Book O.

are distinguished from Muslims in dress, wearing a wide cloth belt (zunnar);
are not greeted with “as-Salamu ‘alaykum”;
must keep to the side of the street
may not build higher than or as high as the Muslims’ buildings, though if they acquire a tall house, it is not razed;
are forbidden to openly display wine or pork, (A: to ring church bells or display crosses,) recite the Torah or Evangel aloud, or make public display of their funerals and feastdays;

Freedom of religion includes the right to abandon or change faith. Islam denies it. Islamic law prescribes the death penalty for apostasy from Islam.
O8.1 When a person who has reached puberty and is sane voluntarily apostatizes from Islam, he deserves to be killed.
O8.2 In such a case, it is obligatory for the caliph (A: or his representive) to ask him to repent and return to Islam. If he does, it is accepted from him, but if he refuses, he is immediately killed.

A seven-minute video titled “For Every Pharaoh [sic] There Is a Musa,” uploaded to YouTube on December 7, 2008, shows two groups of protesters in Islamic garb – one in a park holding signs, and one marching, with police protection, on a residential city street. Both groups are led by speakers with megaphones; the one in the park focuses on Abu Hamza Al-Masri, the Egyptian-born former imam of London’s Finsbury Park Mosque who is currently serving a prison sentence in London,(1) and the marchers focus on the oppression of Chinese Muslims.(2) The location in both cases appears to be London.
The video was uploaded by “londondawa,” self-described as “Brothers in londonistan carrying hisbah for the sake of Allah regarding abu hamza and oppressed Muslims in china.”
The video disappeared on December 10 around 1:45 EST. According to YouTube it was “removed by the user.”
The last section of the video features a man in Islamic garb being interviewed by a woman; on the screen is the caption “Abuizzadeen (Al-Ghurabaa Group).” The man says, “If we live in a society where Islam is not the ruling system, we need to work to change that… It means that if there’s a contradiction between Islamic law and the British law, the British law can go to hell.”
The video’s audio is augmented intermittently by a song in Arabic sung by male voices; this song was previously heard in “Al-Qaeda Media Broadcasting Company Al-Sahab’s Retrospective on the 5th Anniversary of the 9/11/2001: ‘The Manhattan Raid.”(3)

Then there is Shar’ia Law. There is no way that Shar’ia can ever be compatible with any Democracy. There is no equal justice under the law. Women are treated as only 1/4 of a person. Nice.
